I officially cancelled my MySpace account today, for various reasons.

1. I never really use it
2. I’m apparently a HUGE fan of Macy’s gift cards now according to the spam my account has generated on people’s comments as are many of my friends
3. MySpace seems to value improving the dating lives of child molesters more than they value keeping my account safe
4. I’d rather not hear shitty music when I get to check out the pages of friends anyway
5. As a web developer I like to build web apps that don’t break down every ten seconds because my code has fallen apart (a lesson MySpace would do well to learn)

So, to those of you who I had connections to through my MySpace account, I apologize for any spam that may have been sent your way and I assure you that it wasn’t from me. In conclusion, until they focus more on decent security and their site doesn’t break every two seconds, I say MySpace can eat shit and die.
