Back in the Saddle
Life’s been a little crazy on the Western Front lately. I had to take a break from working on BitArtist to work on the voting application for this year’s Webcomic Idol. The trouble was, I only had two weeks to get the entire application written from scratch, make it secure against proxy sites, limit the number of votes per user, and give it a fully-featured backend…managed to do it in seven working days.
Now I’m taking submissions for Webcomic Idol, starting to code on BitArtist again, trying to keep the house in shape, and all without losing my mind. It’s been a lot of fun, but it’s also been trying as all crap.
Ah well, now I’ve got the Wii and other things to eat up what dwindling free time I did have. Can’t be idle y’know, I’d probably end up in jail. I can’t seem to stay still for very long without getting into trouble.
Webcomic Idol has been doing great. It’s our second year of doing this contest and we’ve already smashed our record for last year with around 90 submissions with 10 days left before submissions are closed. One article on a website about webcomic news called it “perhaps the best contest in webcomics”. That’s pretty cool in my book, since it’s only our second year and we kind of had the stigma of being assholes after an incident with the creator of PVP a few years back.
Anyway, life is busy as always and I keep dreaming in code. Should anything normal happen I’ll let everyone know.
