Day 5: A gamer without Games. June 25, 2008

I’ve come to realize that, the music on this laptop totally sucks, yet I am enduring it. Why? Because it’s better then what my mother would listen to. Actually, is all seriousness, I think it’s because it’s actually keeping me awake enough to actually write.

Which is my saving grace, from total and complete boredom. I’m toying with poetry again, and even starting a fanfic or even an original story. So the betting poll is out on that. Fanfiction based off of a video game, or anime, or even a story off the top of my head. It would in essance occupy my time, a heck of a lot better.

If not writing, maybe pick up my artistic side again. I’m not sure. I really have to think about it some more. In the mean time I have the movie. National Treasure: Book of Secrets calling my name.. That is if my daughter will be kind enough to let me use the dvd player in my mothers room.

It seems that this laptop hates this particular DVD.

One thing is certain, once I get back on my feet, and into my own apartment the first thing I’m doing, is going to just sit down and work on an amv idea I’ve had stuck in my head for quite a while now.

A Gamer without Games. June 24, 2008

One of the things I have to admit, is that I am a Gamer. Always have been, and always will be.

Though one can imagine what life is like without video games, even ones as addicting as World of Warcraft.

I think the first step that is the most recognizable sign here, is that the gamer will talk endlessly about being bored, and not having anything to do.

The second step, is that the gamer themselves will try to find a new addiction for themselves, in order to pass the time. For myself it is actually you tube and watching an assortment of videos.

The third step, is recognizing the fact, that yes! They are addicted to their preferred gamers choice crack. For myself it is and probably will be World of Warcraft for a long time, though for the next few days, I won’t be able to play.

Yes that’s right, you heard it from this Gaming  Moms Gamer journal first.  I in a state of Real Life issues, have packed my ps2 and games, and sent the box off to storage in someones basement/garage. My Computer, which I use for graphics, amvs, and yes, playing WoW, was in fact packed up and sent away to my aunts.

The few computers we do have in this household, are in fact WoW free.

And other games which are avalible to me, just don’t catch my interest. So I am in fact on, day four of no WoW, I’ve been to the wow fourms at least ONCE, but that is basically it.

So the betting poll is open; how long will this gaming mom be able to last with out her addiction to games? You Tube only lasts so long, and I am in fact now starting to hatch out writing ideas. To be written on paper, with a pen. I’m even, once again looking at manga, that is new.

Yet, again how long will these distractions keep me from foaming at the mouth, and keep me busy enough when I’m done my chores, and doing my duties in my mothers abode before I declare my boredom and beg my mom to come with me and pick up my TV, DVD player, and PC ??

Only time will tell.

In the mean time I’m going to go check on my daughter, go outside fry my brain by sitting out in the sun, and then possibly -maybe- take the digital camera and film the outside world, or even my parents animals. I’m not completely sure.

From the mind of yet another female gamer. February 16, 2008

She says it best, she says it with facts, she has a POINT!

Seriously check it out.
I could not say it better.

Wanding Warlocks need not apply. February 15, 2008

Yes the title says it all.  When one lfg’s for sfk, they normally expect to to gather some good players that know what the heck they are doing.

Now don’t get me wrong, you may know what you like to do personally. But in a run of an instance, for the love of god pay attention to your group, their health, and occasionally cast dots!

Wanding over and over won’t do shit, against Argul. Dot’s, dot’s and more dots will however!

Also for the love of my sanity DON’T EVER PULL something towards you if you can get past it without aggro. This is stressed times a gazillion. If your main tanks have moved on to the next room follow them ASAP. Forget the damn lone ghost. Just MOVE YOUR lock ass to the next room!

So a note to the wise.

If you see a LFG for sfk, and you know you won’t be much help because you just want to go along for the exp ride, and use wand the entire run. Do us a favor please.

Don’t apply.

On a lark a few months ago, I created the wow Character Davetango.

Name derived and a nod to one of my favorite shows, and T.A.P’s Team member.  Last Dec when I wasn’t grinding Tarrlin, (who is now lvl 32) I was goofing off and grinding this character. By the time he hit 20, Swan via his Pally, Mayeliena (sp?) had this character join a guild. So I was level grinding like mad, and enjoying the feeling of being in a family like guild.

Welcome to Darklords of Vengeance.  The members are all nice and help each other out. In fact they make the quest grinding rather fun and it’s nice to have a bunch of people you can associate with to talk to while you solo it out on the newbie quests as well.

Today Davetango, dinged level 33, and was able to complete a rather interesting quest with the help of a guild member who had the Magistrate rank. Now usually I do avoid the fleshy characters. They die so easily, however, this mage knew what they were doing.

It made for an interesting time before I logged off to write this while eating a breakfast of cereal while waiting for my daughter to wake up. I may only get to play on weekends now on Swan’s laptop when I am not hanging out over there, but I hope it will be worth it.

This guild actually makes being in a guild, FUN.

Thus the new year has started. I’m a bit late in writing in this regarding that. The new year itself feels just like any other year except the simple change in the last digit from 7 to 8.

My daughter it seems is ill, however all things considered, she does attend a school most days of the week so I’m not suprised the virus I had over the holiday has resurfaced and now she has it.

Plans to work on several volume one reviews are in the works. When I’m not cuddling my daughter and sleeping.
You can expect, Angel Scantuary, Zombie Powder, Airgear, and Dramacon 3 (when it arrives from Amazon). As well as Vampire Knight volumes 2-3. Yes I am going to review those as well. I did say it had two more chances to get me to like it. We shall see what we shall see.

Saw the movie enchanted not long ago. I have to hand it to Disney this time around. They turned your typical Animated musical princess flick into quite the amusing and cool, live action flick. I was rather pleased with it. I think I’ll be making it part of my dvd collection, if it doesn’t go straight to Blue-ray DVD.

In the meantime, I think I should tackle the mess that is slowly exploding out into the hallway and put things back in order. Now that I have the energy to actually clean I should actually do so before I get beset with another of my famous migranes.
Happy new years folks.

What’s the best reccomendation you can think of to give a sick woman.

Need clarification? Sure!

What’s the best medicine to help make coughs go away?

Stuffy noses?

Migrane headaches?

and the ever popular sore muscles?

If you’re wondering why I’m asking this, it is because I am sure the doctore I will see today will assign some form of medicine that will not work. As is the case with most times I have been horribly sick, the meds that were prescribed never ever worked. Why is this you wonder? It is because I have always been ill as a child, and thus have always been on some form of medicine most of my life. When I was 12 I was a walking medicine cabinet.

aww man it’s also a Monday.. That means a week or so of venturing outside to take tia to and from school. This is bound to make this illness get worse. Joy.

And the count is…. December 1, 2007

avatar26015. Which for myself is an incredible amount. I’m happy. Ofcourse now that I actually re read it I notice several continuity errors, which I can fix, and then expand upon, to add padding. I am already awaiting the next years NaNo. Tia will be in school full time, and this will give me more time to write during the day.

Maybe next year I’ll break 30K. Or 40K. We shall see. This december will consist of editing, re writing, adding, and polising up this years NaNo.

Ofcourse it won’t be as time consuming as writing it actually was, and I won’t have the feeling of wanting to forget the story as a whole. I’m also looking into the possibility of pretty much turing it into a webcomic. I have at least more then a years worth of stuff to work from, however I’d want to enlist an artist. I have no time to actually draw it out myself.

So this years NaNo comes to an end. I’m pleased with myself.

Now it’s back to the usual grind. Back to games, reading Manga every day, and looking into other points of interest. Not to mention the parenting gig. November has proven to be the most busiest of the year.

Now to go play Grandia III I wonder how far I’ll get tonight.

Happy birthday to me, Manga, and NaNo. November 23, 2007

avatarHappy birthday to me. Today on November 23rd, 2007 I turn 26.

Now with that out of the way, I am free to move on with today’s ramblings. First up Amazon.ca.

It seems Nightmoon has given me a gift certificate to said online place. She in fact made it quite obvious it was to purchase the next volume to Dramacon, a Manga I happened to buy at the last one day convention JAAWathon. Luckily it was more then enough to cover the cost of the item, shipping and handling, as well as the general tax. So it cost me next to nothing.

Moving on, while I’m still behind on NaNoWriMo, I am actually quite pleased with my progress. I managed to hit just over 20K and when that happened, I updated the word count on my profile on the main web site. I am still behind by several thousands words, considering most are in the 30 -40 k region in their counts, but with the down hill momentum of sticking to the idea I had, things seem to be running more smoothly.

I borrowed season six Buffy from my mother on DVD so I have that playing in the background. I forgot how much of it actually had some amusing lines.

So while that goes on I think I’ll work on coloring or attempting to coloring a new page in Fate Breaker. After the PC barfing a blue screen, last time I’m ready to give it another go.

Have I ever talked about how I am a very shy person on this blog before? No? Oh well I guess this ‘ll be something new for those of you in the blog-o-sphere to digest. It is true, I am in fact the most quietest person you can think of.

Oh sure on the internet I have a flaire and confidence that says I’m a fun if not totally warped individual that you’d love… But in person? You’re just better off grabbing a tranq gun and shooting me in the neck with it in order to get me to actually attend huge social events with nothing but total and complete strangers.

To detail for the past few weeks, I have been trying my hardest against all odds to catch up, and keep up with the writing pack in NaNo. I have very dismal results, but then again at 12 K, it’s okay. In honesty I haven’t updated my count for some time. I assure you I have been writing.

The people at the social gathering for the Manitoba Region, in Winnipeg, at The Forks, were witness to that. They all know that the quiet one sitting at the table closest to them, was me. They know I wrote from arrival to the point in time I drew a comic like note for the ML Heather, stating my Shy complex in a humorus way.

I had been planning on going to this event. Heck the emails between Heather and I were fun and I honestly wanted to go. I wanted to talk with these people, but my shy complex got in the way. I was like a deer caught in headlights and setteled for sitting at a table closest to the group and just writing.

I hope though, I can make the TGIO (Thank god it’s over) bash. Maybe then I’ll be a bit more sociable.

In the mean time I should get to work on continuing to type up the AFK Nano writings onto my computer, and then updating the dismal word count.

I found it very amusing when stating in the fourms I was indeed at the social gathering, if not a bit late, then again I got horribly lost. One good thing that came out of it, was a random guy who sketches people for free, was able to do a rather fast sketch of myself in my kitty hat. It was a cute thing, and I think I’ll Frame it.

Sunday resulted in my being able to find an interesting site in order to watch a few episodes of an anime, in order to compare it to its Manga Equivilent. So now the article for when that gets typed up and ready to go will be rather interesting. Though I encourage readers to buy offical releases as well, to supoport the people who work hard to bring you Anime. I only watched it online to kill time, and compare it to the manga for my next article and I don’t own that particular anime as of yet, I will by Christmas, though.

As for what Manga / Anime I’m planning on writing about next? That’s a secret and only those at wotg who have been keeping up with me, know which one I’m planning. It should be written up, edited and up on the main site within this week.
