Day 5: A gamer without Games. June 25, 2008
Posted by caldi-chan in : Gaming, On blogging, Uncategorized, general musings , add a commentI’ve come to realize that, the music on this laptop totally sucks, yet I am enduring it. Why? Because it’s better then what my mother would listen to. Actually, is all seriousness, I think it’s because it’s actually keeping me awake enough to actually write.
Which is my saving grace, from total and complete boredom. I’m toying with poetry again, and even starting a fanfic or even an original story. So the betting poll is out on that. Fanfiction based off of a video game, or anime, or even a story off the top of my head. It would in essance occupy my time, a heck of a lot better.
If not writing, maybe pick up my artistic side again. I’m not sure. I really have to think about it some more. In the mean time I have the movie. National Treasure: Book of Secrets calling my name.. That is if my daughter will be kind enough to let me use the dvd player in my mothers room.
It seems that this laptop hates this particular DVD.
One thing is certain, once I get back on my feet, and into my own apartment the first thing I’m doing, is going to just sit down and work on an amv idea I’ve had stuck in my head for quite a while now.
A Gamer without Games. June 24, 2008
Posted by caldi-chan in : Gaming, On blogging, W.O.W, general musings, parents , add a commentOne of the things I have to admit, is that I am a Gamer. Always have been, and always will be.
Though one can imagine what life is like without video games, even ones as addicting as World of Warcraft.
I think the first step that is the most recognizable sign here, is that the gamer will talk endlessly about being bored, and not having anything to do.
The second step, is that the gamer themselves will try to find a new addiction for themselves, in order to pass the time. For myself it is actually you tube and watching an assortment of videos.
The third step, is recognizing the fact, that yes! They are addicted to their preferred gamers choice crack. For myself it is and probably will be World of Warcraft for a long time, though for the next few days, I won’t be able to play.
Yes that’s right, you heard it from this Gaming Moms Gamer journal first. I in a state of Real Life issues, have packed my ps2 and games, and sent the box off to storage in someones basement/garage. My Computer, which I use for graphics, amvs, and yes, playing WoW, was in fact packed up and sent away to my aunts.
The few computers we do have in this household, are in fact WoW free.
And other games which are avalible to me, just don’t catch my interest. So I am in fact on, day four of no WoW, I’ve been to the wow fourms at least ONCE, but that is basically it.
So the betting poll is open; how long will this gaming mom be able to last with out her addiction to games? You Tube only lasts so long, and I am in fact now starting to hatch out writing ideas. To be written on paper, with a pen. I’m even, once again looking at manga, that is new.
Yet, again how long will these distractions keep me from foaming at the mouth, and keep me busy enough when I’m done my chores, and doing my duties in my mothers abode before I declare my boredom and beg my mom to come with me and pick up my TV, DVD player, and PC ??
Only time will tell.
In the mean time I’m going to go check on my daughter, go outside fry my brain by sitting out in the sun, and then possibly -maybe- take the digital camera and film the outside world, or even my parents animals. I’m not completely sure.
RP on Kirin Tor in Steady Decline. April 24, 2008
Posted by caldi-chan in : Gaming, W.O.W , 2commentsKirin Tor, to most people is an RP server which is apart of the WoW world, for players like myself.
This server is one of the first RP servers, and at the start it had exceptional role play, and it produced many good role players.
However, now that we come to the age of now, the Horde side has shown to myself (who is completely new) and a few others who have been around since the Start of the Burning Crusade launch, that Role Play has now started to Decline, and with each passing day it declines more, and we are left with lore breakers, and in general the most horrible story lines I have ever seen.
I am sorry here, but as much as I love this server it is falling by the way side. Many people are leaving for Moonguard, or even just quitting. Kirin Tor needs help.
If you are an exceptional Role player, and believe in following the lore, and playing your toon correctly by class, job and race then please Role Play!
Demons, and Demon possesion need not apply.
The only demons that should be in the lore, are the Legion, Free agent, Illedan (?) which had his own staff. None of these had the power to possess. So it is not possible. So please check the lore before making a back story.
There are demons already in the Kirin Tor universe, however, there is just too much going on that breaks the lore. Some of us, want it to end. We will work to get Kirin Tor’s RP back up to normal. Back to how it should be.
Either that or Moonguard and other rp servers alike will end up being host to Kirin Tor refugees. Such is the way of things.
So I’m backing up the few guilds that have decided to take a stand. I will be standing tall with them. I will not only level my toons, I will also RP my best and no longer accept this demon lore rp anymore.
Demons in Blood Elf hosts is Not possible. I am sorry, if my friends who have fallen down this path get upset, but this is for the best. I don’t want to watch friends leave Kirin Tor. I don’t want to see the best RP’ers I’ve ever known suddenly leave for another server.
So I’m going to do my best. Those of you on Kirin Tor who are also Role Players should consider where you stand. Leave or save Kirin Tor?
It is up to us as players and Role Players.
Weddings in WoW April 22, 2008

Yes the picture says it all.
A few days ago, my character. The only one that doesn’t have a name hovering above her head, was invited to this event.
Now I know two of the players quite a bit, the others not that well, and the bride to be is a sweet girl.
Keep in mind, this is RP, so it is a fictional event in a fictional world, though I have seen serious gamer couples plan large and epic weddings.
The point of this post however, is to just share my thoughts.
Now none of my characters have gotten hitched in game, though this is the third event I have seen. Two being in the wayfarers inn.
It’s proven to be rather interesting, none the less. If any of my toons get married thoug, in an In Character Role play story arc, I think I’d have them hitched in Ashenvale, and only have a small guest list. Weddings take a long time to plan, and I’ve seen some good ones and bad ones on You tube.
So it’s all just a matter of prospective really.
Of course I apologize for not having that many pictures with this post, but oh well.
It is simply because as I went though each screen grab most were the same.
I’ve done the best I could, and these actually are the only ones that I feel do give the event any justice, had I not been busy I probably would have stuck around to make a good screen grab, however I had to bolt.

Seriously check it out.
I could not say it better.
Wanding Warlocks need not apply. February 15, 2008
Posted by caldi-chan in : Gaming, W.O.W, general musings , add a commentYes the title says it all. When one lfg’s for sfk, they normally expect to to gather some good players that know what the heck they are doing.
Now don’t get me wrong, you may know what you like to do personally. But in a run of an instance, for the love of god pay attention to your group, their health, and occasionally cast dots!
Wanding over and over won’t do shit, against Argul. Dot’s, dot’s and more dots will however!
Also for the love of my sanity DON’T EVER PULL something towards you if you can get past it without aggro. This is stressed times a gazillion. If your main tanks have moved on to the next room follow them ASAP. Forget the damn lone ghost. Just MOVE YOUR lock ass to the next room!
So a note to the wise.
If you see a LFG for sfk, and you know you won’t be much help because you just want to go along for the exp ride, and use wand the entire run. Do us a favor please.
Don’t apply.
FATHER BEATS CHILD AFTER XBOX FALLS OVER. January 31, 2008
Posted by caldi-chan in : Gaming, parents , add a commentNow this is an interesting article to find and read on Girl Gamers, the Live journal community I frequent quite a bit.
I am a mother. My daughter is five years old.
I would never smack let alone beat my child to death over something so… STUPID. I would get angry, but it’s called counting to ten and removing yourself from the situation and calming down.
After reading the article, I felt sick to my stomach.
That poor girl didn’t deserve death over something like that. Take this as an advanced warning.
If you think you’ll get mad enough to hit or harm a small child for something like this more then ONCE. (Read small swat to bum) then you need to seriously re-consider your ethics as a parent, and seek help to curb the anger.
2008 is here. January 10, 2008
Posted by caldi-chan in : Gaming, general musings, parents , add a commentThus the new year has started. I’m a bit late in writing in this regarding that. The new year itself feels just like any other year except the simple change in the last digit from 7 to 8.
My daughter it seems is ill, however all things considered, she does attend a school most days of the week so I’m not suprised the virus I had over the holiday has resurfaced and now she has it.
Plans to work on several volume one reviews are in the works. When I’m not cuddling my daughter and sleeping.
You can expect, Angel Scantuary, Zombie Powder, Airgear, and Dramacon 3 (when it arrives from Amazon). As well as Vampire Knight volumes 2-3. Yes I am going to review those as well. I did say it had two more chances to get me to like it. We shall see what we shall see.
Saw the movie enchanted not long ago. I have to hand it to Disney this time around. They turned your typical Animated musical princess flick into quite the amusing and cool, live action flick. I was rather pleased with it. I think I’ll be making it part of my dvd collection, if it doesn’t go straight to Blue-ray DVD.
In the meantime, I think I should tackle the mess that is slowly exploding out into the hallway and put things back in order. Now that I have the energy to actually clean I should actually do so before I get beset with another of my famous migranes.
Happy new years folks.
A few wow centered things. December 18, 2007
Posted by caldi-chan in : Gaming, W.O.W, holidays , add a comment
One of the things I found myself doing while sick, and having the laptop is playing on my wow account. Of course this won’t be for very much longer. It’s a simple fact of that when January hits the owner of the laptop will be needing it for course work at the Uni where he attends.
I’m normally a sound player, and stick to what I know and people I can trust. What with scams and people who hack accounts, I think it’s pretty damn smart of myself to be so cautious.
This does not mean that I am a “Nub” or “Noob.” Tarrlin is a lvl 26-27 horde hunter, and she’s the one that I spent time leveling when nobody else was on. She is my main and I adore how far I’ve gotten her with very little to no help.
Today I was gathering leather and selling the junk for my funds for a mount, when a user who shall go unnamed spamed me without warning a trade window. I hate that, it would be nice if people whispered me first.
Ofcourse I declined it.
Then they whispered me, saying to put my weapon in the window. I was a bit weary ofcourse. Then again this weapon was a gift from a random user when Tarrlin was just a level ten, I am loath to part with it.
So I said I wasn’t interested, it was a gift it wasn’t up for trade. This is a polite way of saying no, however the person then started to say rather absurd stuff, while explaining they only wanted to enchant my weapon. Then they pointed out soulbound weapons couldn’t be traded.
My polished claymore of the boar is soulbound, so this made me wonder. If this were in fact true, why even bother in the first place. However as I walked away to continue on with my goal of gathering skins for leatherworking they called me a noob, and a nub. I replied by simply stating that if what they said was true, then why attempt or bother. However the person had put me on ignore.
Real mature.
This is what irks me, this is the first time I’ve ever been called a W.O.W nub/noob.
There are alot of things I am still learning, but I’m not as fresh as a first time player.
However in the light of things, Groothar, who had crafted the gloves I am wearing, sent me an email. I had sent him some gold, mistakenly thinking Groothar was in fact a fellow wow player I know. He wasn’t, but he was honest and returned my funds.
So thank you Groothar for making me realize not all people are as childish and annoying as most people seem to be in the World of Warcraft.
I saved a copy of the letter as a reminder.
In Game news: The great rumor. December 3, 2007
Posted by caldi-chan in : Gaming, Kotaku, gamespot, rumor , add a comment
If you been following the gamespot site, then the news that Jeff Gerstmann’s removal from the editorial staff isn’t old news. Nor is the Rumor that a stated employe has stepped forward at ValleyWag to tell it like it is, which can be read about at Kotaku.com
Granted I myself have never gone to the gamespot.com site, but a majority of other sites I frequent including the Girl_Gamers livejournal community has been vocal about it over the last few days.
Now there are ideas that perhaps he was fired because of his review of Kain and Lynch: Dead Men, which according to posts went live when the site was in fact advertising the game in full.
This ofcourse hasn’t been proven, and is only catagorized as a rumor. The true details haven’t been made as of yet truly public. Also the video review was taken down with the reason being that it was no longer accurate with the written review.
Granted, while I am a gamer, and this is the kind of news I do tend to follow. I however do not own an xbox, yet I know some of my closer friends in my personal social circle and some of the guys at wotg do too. So this should spark some interesting conversation over the next few days.
As a whole, the going trend for gamers it seems, is to stop going to gamespot, or even for that matter just not read reviews anymore from the site, while continuing to read favored blogs from the editorial staff.
The impact?
Gamers are pissed off. Jeff G. was well known for his harsh crits on games, they were honest and helped people decide if it was worth it to plunk down their hard earned money. People over at 4chan have also made commentary on the issue, including posting his picture, as was reported to me from a regular 4chan board visitor.
How much longer will it take to find out the truth?
Only the people at Gamespot can release that information, and most people would wait on the edges of their seats waiting for this, while others like myself are wondering if such news will ever be released.
It all boils down to this: Jeff G. was fired, after ten years of service, of honest crits for the gamer fanbase. That’s ten years of service, ending with a big bang on the internet in the gamer circles.
