The day before Caldi’s Christmas. December 25, 2007

T’was the day before Christmas, and the spawn was at grandma’s, nothing new there. It was time to for a dinner, and the ride was a half hour late. So I sat and I wait, browsing the net. Unknowing to my suprise, that I’d have to transform a transformer from robot to tank.

The toy was confusing, all interlocking with springs. Young little Slade had long since abandoned, the toy for the basement. Yet toiled swan and I did, to transform that god awlful toy, if it meant hours of fustration.

Every little push, or sudden touch set off the sounds, and I was left to my fustrations of wishing it the package said “Batteries not included.” Loath to our dismay, that was not the case, so got used to the gun torrent sounds, and the kabangs and kabooms.

We had figured out twelve steps, and by then we saying.

“Optimus prime, wasn’t this HARD!” Biting our lips we read the instructions again and again, and decided to screw it and gave it to Slade’s dad. With ease like a pro he transformed that cursed toy, and we looked on in wonder, as  Slade ohhed and awwed. Only to say with that adorable grin.

“The wheels don’t move, why don’t that dad?”

I choked back the laughter, and bit my left cheek. I wanted to say.

“Merry Freakin Christmas, and have a good year. I’ll not attempt that abomination for the rest of the year!”

Then it ws off to My moms to spend the night. But there was no sleep to be had. The spawn did not sleep. I’ve bags under my eyes, and I’m tired to the core. Tia is high on sugar, and the guests have yet to arrive.

A second christmas dinner, and I can only groan. My stomah is weary of eating more food.

A few wow centered things. December 18, 2007

Tarrlin main toon.

One of the things I found myself doing while sick, and having the laptop is playing on my wow account. Of course this won’t be for very much longer. It’s a simple fact of that when January hits the owner of the laptop will be needing it for course work at the Uni where he attends.

I’m normally a sound player, and stick to what I know and people I can trust. What with scams and people who hack accounts, I think it’s pretty damn smart of myself to be so cautious.

This does not mean that I am a “Nub” or “Noob.” Tarrlin is a lvl 26-27 horde hunter, and she’s the one that I spent time leveling when nobody else was on. She is my main and I adore how far I’ve gotten her with very little to no help.

Today I was gathering leather and selling the junk for my funds for a mount, when a user who shall go unnamed spamed me without warning a trade window. I hate that, it would be nice if people whispered me first.

Ofcourse I declined it.

Then they whispered me, saying to put my weapon in the window. I was a bit weary ofcourse. Then again this weapon was a gift from a random user when Tarrlin was just a level ten, I am loath to part with it.

So I said I wasn’t interested, it was a gift it wasn’t up for trade. This is a polite way of saying no, however the person then started to say rather absurd stuff, while explaining they only wanted to enchant my weapon. Then they pointed out soulbound weapons couldn’t be traded.

My polished claymore of the boar is soulbound, so this made me wonder. If this were in fact true, why even bother in the first place. However as I walked away to continue on with my goal of gathering skins for leatherworking they called me a noob, and a nub. I replied by simply stating that if what they said was true, then why attempt or bother. However the person had put me on ignore.

Real mature.

This is what irks me, this is the first time I’ve ever been called a W.O.W nub/noob.

There are alot of things I am still learning, but I’m not as fresh as a first time player.

However in the light of things, Groothar, who had crafted the gloves I am wearing, sent me an email. I had sent him some gold, mistakenly thinking Groothar was in fact a fellow wow player I know. He wasn’t, but he was honest and returned my funds.

So thank you Groothar for making me realize not all people are as childish and annoying as most people seem to be in the World of Warcraft.

I saved a copy of the letter as a reminder.

What’s the best reccomendation you can think of to give a sick woman.

Need clarification? Sure!

What’s the best medicine to help make coughs go away?

Stuffy noses?

Migrane headaches?

and the ever popular sore muscles?

If you’re wondering why I’m asking this, it is because I am sure the doctore I will see today will assign some form of medicine that will not work. As is the case with most times I have been horribly sick, the meds that were prescribed never ever worked. Why is this you wonder? It is because I have always been ill as a child, and thus have always been on some form of medicine most of my life. When I was 12 I was a walking medicine cabinet.

aww man it’s also a Monday.. That means a week or so of venturing outside to take tia to and from school. This is bound to make this illness get worse. Joy.

Merry happy holidays, I lost my voice. December 9, 2007

avatar Merry happy holidays.

My first gift of the season was a parcel of goods. Anime, candy a new computer mouse and other things.

My second gift? One heck of an illness that has attacked my throat and rendered my voice gone. Oh how it hurts to speak when on the phone. Oh and coughing results in the ever present migrane headache.

I’d like nothing more then to stay in bed and not do anything, however I have a child, and she has school. For at least two more weeks give or take. Oh cruel fate how you mock me, this must be pay back for my Vampire Knight Review back at the Way of the geek site.

I have been rendered into a whiny, incapable woman who wants to be pampered, sleep, and have someone else take tia to and from school. However, the chances of that happening are very slim.

It’s winter after all, and people get sick all the time and I have to tighten my belt and deal with it.

I hate you jack frost.

I remember a time back in highschool when the anime Sailor Moon was all the craze with the girls. Guys wouldn’t admit they liked it though, heaven forbid they admitted they liked a show aimed at 12 year old girls.

Ofcourse this show was my icebreaker. It was the show where people encouraged me to draw in the anime format. They liked the style, and so they went to the girl who knew of the show and watched it everyday.

Ofcourse this was what really made me notice the anime scene on the airwaves, before I knew it I was the wild and eccentric fan, taping shows, writing fanfics, practicing the art style, and collecting calendars, posters, and other odds and ends.

This interest cemented for me a few friendships which are years old now, some still strong, and some that faded out with the begining of the craze.Ofcourse one friendship has remained true through the years though she and I have yet to actually meet and compare notes in person, since the days we hung out at her place, on the back porch listening to the radio. However, we found each other via the anime community for this city and have friended each other on live journal and MSN Live.

On the odd occasion we talk about boys, and other interesting things that could only bore a guy to tears. Yet one thing that is the constant is our shared love for art, anime and manga.

Last night she messaged me.

“Do you read Newtype?” It took me a while to realize what she meant, then it dawned on me. The English equivilent to a popular Japanese Magazine also named Newtype. Regretfully I said no, because it wasn’t in my budget of things to buy. (And we know I spend an insane amount of money on anime and Manga)

After replying she happily told me she had been featured in Newtype. Or rather her art was one of many submissions that was to be found within the very pages, of the most recent Issue. (Is that correct ?)

She sent me a scan. A side by side of the page it was found on, and a close up of the actual art.

I share with you, Crystal T’s artwork. I must say she really has improved over the years since I’ve gotten to know her. Also I’m incredibly happy that she’s being recognized in her art format. One of the main reasons why I wanted to share this, is because she’s a friend, and she’s also a hard worker.

So congrats Crystal T. You’re making a name for yourself in the artist community.

In Game news: The great rumor. December 3, 2007

avatarIf you been following the gamespot site, then the news that Jeff Gerstmann’s removal from the editorial staff isn’t old news. Nor is the Rumor that a stated employe has stepped forward at ValleyWag to tell it like it is, which can be read about at Kotaku.com

Granted I myself have never gone to the gamespot.com site, but a majority of other sites I frequent including the Girl_Gamers livejournal community has been vocal about it over the last few days.

Now there are ideas that perhaps he was fired because of his review of Kain and Lynch: Dead Men, which according to posts went live when the site was in fact advertising the game in full. Kane and Lynch  This ofcourse hasn’t been proven, and is only catagorized as a rumor. The true details haven’t been made as of yet truly public. Also the video review was taken down with the reason being that it was no longer accurate with the written review.

Granted, while I am a gamer, and this is the kind of news I do tend to follow. I however do not own an xbox, yet I know some of my closer friends in my personal social circle and some of the guys at wotg do too. So this should spark some interesting conversation over the next few days.

As a whole, the going trend for gamers it seems, is to stop going to gamespot, or even for that matter just not read reviews anymore from the site, while continuing to read favored blogs from the editorial staff.

The impact?

Gamers are pissed off. Jeff G. was well known for his harsh crits on games, they were honest and helped people decide if it was worth it to plunk down their hard earned money. People over at 4chan have also made commentary on the issue, including posting his picture, as was reported to me from a regular 4chan board visitor.

How much longer will it take to find out the truth?

Only the people at Gamespot can release that information, and most people would wait on the edges of their seats waiting for this, while others like myself are wondering if such news will ever be released.

It all boils down to this: Jeff  G. was fired, after ten years of service, of honest crits for the gamer fanbase. That’s ten years of service, ending with a big bang on the internet in the gamer circles.

avatar26015. Which for myself is an incredible amount. I’m happy. Ofcourse now that I actually re read it I notice several continuity errors, which I can fix, and then expand upon, to add padding. I am already awaiting the next years NaNo. Tia will be in school full time, and this will give me more time to write during the day.

Maybe next year I’ll break 30K. Or 40K. We shall see. This december will consist of editing, re writing, adding, and polising up this years NaNo.

Ofcourse it won’t be as time consuming as writing it actually was, and I won’t have the feeling of wanting to forget the story as a whole. I’m also looking into the possibility of pretty much turing it into a webcomic. I have at least more then a years worth of stuff to work from, however I’d want to enlist an artist. I have no time to actually draw it out myself.

So this years NaNo comes to an end. I’m pleased with myself.

Now it’s back to the usual grind. Back to games, reading Manga every day, and looking into other points of interest. Not to mention the parenting gig. November has proven to be the most busiest of the year.

Now to go play Grandia III I wonder how far I’ll get tonight.
