Tomorrow I begin the first in my many CompTIA certifications classes. I will be starting with A+ and continuing on a three month course through the spectrum to earn my CEH certification, unless I can extend and get my way into a CHFI certification as well. It’s nerdy, which I love. However, part of me is still a little concerned that I am under-prepared or “out of my depth” as I have only been doing web programming for the past decade.

Don’t get me wrong, I like what I do, but the demands are usually incredibly unrealistic and the hours long. Besides, if I am not doing it professionally I can go back to doing it more as a hobby, which is when it becomes more fun again. Not to mention that the pay should be better in this line of work than the one I am in currently. That sounded ungrateful, so let me rephrase it. They pay should be more than I made at the height of my career.
