Before, I used to have to copy all my files and export my database info to a thumb drive if I needed to work from home, or work remotely in general. However, now my company has started using GIT. Which has made all that a thing of the past.
Now, I can fetch any changes that have been made to the files. I still have to figure out how to export the database changes so I can work on them locally. Mainly as many servers don’t like to have calls from 127.0.0.1 or localhost, and I can’t say I blame them.
So, my next task is to figure out how to set up a system like I use with GIT for MySQL for local development. I am sure that such a solution exists, I just need to find it.
I should mention that the wonderful things I just said about GIT also apply to Subversion. I’ve been using both for years, but until recently I had forgotten how much fun using GIT could be.Tags: friend, your
