First off, “The Fall of Gilead #6″ moves the Dark Tower prequel closer and closer to its conclusion as Roland and his friends take one more step forwards the fateful battle of Jericho Hill. With at least one more Dark Tower mini-series in production and a brand new Dark Tower book announced by Stephen King recently, this series is sure to be a hot property in the coming months.
In “Guardians of the Galaxy #1″, Star-Lord formed a team of space-faring misfits to keep the peace in the cosmos. Nineteen issues later, half the team is dead and huge gaping hole in space. Things haven’t quite gone well for the new Guardians. Still, with some of the best character writing in comics in their line-up, I wouldn’t write this under-the-radar hit off just yet.
“Hulk #17″ almost had me. In it, Red Hulk has to take on Wolverine, Punisher, Deadpool and …. errr….. Red She-Hulk. All of this sets the stage for . . . sigh . . . World War Hulks. Let the collective sighs begin. How this ties into the much more ominous-sounding Fall of the Hulks is unknown.
Tim Gunn’s “Models Inc.” has gotten a lot of slack – because it had the fortune of being released just days after the Marvel/Disney deal was announced. That said, I think this series is a pretty good idea. Marvel is inexplicably filled to the brim with super-models who appear and disappear at the whim or change of a creative team. Putting them all in one book makes a lot of sense. Here, in issue #4, lead by Mary Jane Watson try to uncover a killer, and find who has framed their friend Millie.
