Captain America continues his path to rebirth in “Captain America: Reborn.” And it’s definitely not looking good – Bucky and Sharon Carter have been captured, while Red Skull and Dr. Doom make a potentially apocalyptic alliance. For now, I’ll bite – but if this series only succeeds in returning Cap to the pre-Brubaker status quo, I won’t be very happy . . .
Deadpool Team-Up #899 (the numbering is running backward from Deadpool #900) looks to have quite a few laughs. First up – Deadpool teams up with probably only potentially funnier character in the M.U. – the Incredible Hercules! As the solicitations read, “Drunken Mayhem, bad jokes and billions of dollars in property damage ensue!”
Doctor Voodoo: Avenger of the Supernatural #2 has Jericho getting a good dose of reality. Why was he hand-picked to be the Sorcerer Supreme? Is he destined for greatness or infamy? Or was this B-character just dragged out of obscurity to leave the world more vulnerable to mystic threats? I like the honesty behind this approach to someone in the unenviable position of Dr. Strange’s successor.
Nova #31 has Nova on a collision course with one of his best friends – Darkhawk – now the most wanted man in the universe after the assassination of Lilandra! To make matters worst, the backdrop of their battle is none other than the Fault – a giant hole in space left by War of Kings! Nova has never let me down – it’s time like these I wish Marvel just gave them a subscription already!
