In Amazing Spider-Man #611, Spidey teams up with his Rob Liefield counterpart . . . Deadpool! Honestly, this isn’t the first time Spider-Man has met Deadpool, but it’s one of the first times Spider-Man has had to put up with the Merc with a Mouth in his own book. Written by Joe Kelly – a former Deadpool scribe himself – this should be good, especially since it ties into upcoming Spider-Man story “The Gauntlet.”

Dark X-Men #1 hits stands . . . again. But this time, it’s a whole new line-up after the whupping Osborn was delivered in the face of “Utopia.” The remaining line-up includes Mystique, Dark Beast, Mimic and Weapon Omega – and their target is none other than long dead X-Man X-Man! Written by Paul Cornell (Dr. Who), this should be good as the story enters “Siege” territory.

And if one Deadpool team-up wasn’t enough this month, how about two Deadpool team-ups. This next one isn’t really a team-up, but instead, a status quo shocker, as Deadpool joins the X-Men in Deadpool #17. But how long can Cyclops keep him off the roster – and how long can Domino stop wade from killing a corrupt businessman with ties to both a young X-Man and Norman Osborn.

And definitely check out the new SWORD ongoing hitting shelves Wednesday. You might remember SWORD from Joss Whedon’s run on Astonishing X-Men – it’s a government agency set up to watch over alien cultures both on and outside of Earth. After Secret Invasion, Agent Brand is forced to share her post with consummate government n’er-do-well Henry Gyrich. With the help of her boyfriend Beast and the small dragon Lockheed,  Brand will have to stop Gyrich from a plot to rid Earth of all aliens.

Mark Waid pens the adventures of the no-longer Doctor Stephen  Strange in Strange #1. Now that he’s passed off the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme to Doctor Voodoo, Strange needs to find a new way to fill the role of deus ex machina – and do that he’ll take on a brand new student. All cynicism aside, I think this is a great idea, stripping Strange of his title – especially with Waid writing.
