Comic Rundown: Headpool
Posted by Richard Pulfer on Nov 17th, 2009

Amazing Spider-Man #612 begins the Gauntlet, a new Spidey event re-introducing many of Spider-Man’s most dangerous enemies. The event starts with Electro, who is a broken shell of the man he used the be. Desperate to punish the corrupt system which produced him, Electro starts his quest for justice – but the jury is out which side Spider-Man will fall in this struggle. Written by Mark Waid, I have to admit this one sounds pretty appealing.

Deadpool: Merc with a Mouth #5 had Deadpool finally succeeding in capturing “Headpool”, his grisly alternate-reality zombie counterpart. But en route to an AIM space station to pick up the big bucks, Deadpool is starting to think experimenting with a zombie virus that has already destroyed one universe might be a bad idea – and has plans of his own.

Incredible Hulk #604 features an awesome father-and-son team-up of Bruce Banner and Skarr, son of the Incredible Hulk. But family bonding is put on hold with the appearance of the Harpy, a twisted creature who used to bear the name of Bruce’s now-deceased wife Betty. Bruce isn’t too sure who or what this creature attacking them is – putting his relationship with Skarr to the test.

Mighty Avengers #31 features a team-up with, well, everyone – the Mighty Avengers, the New Avengers, the Young Avengers and more – facing off against the Unspoken, the original leader of the Inhumans. And speaking of the Inhumans, the tribe catches up with Quicksilver, who has since regained his sanity – but never quite taken responsibility for his acts in Son of M, where he stole and then lost the Terrigen Mists.

And speaking of the Inhumans, be sure to check out “Realm of Kings” and “Realm of Kings: Inhumans”, the follow-up to “War of Kings.” The aftermath of Black Bolt and Vulcan’s mutually-destructive showdown has created a hole in space that the survivors of the War must now deal with – but who knows what’s inside the Fault?

To see what’s coming down the pipeline in DC, head over to Page 2.
