Review: Brutal Legend
Posted by Migo on Oct 22nd, 2009

Okay, I’ve got a confession to make, I’m a huge metalhead. Always have been, always will be, I can’t help it. So when I first heard about Brutal Legend I was half-stoked, half-leery. If they did to metal what they do to most comic books in the form of a video game there would probably be a riot somewhere in the world within days of it’s release. Then I heard Jack Black was voicing the main character and part of me shriveled, never really being a Jack Black fan.

It wasn’t until I saw the concept and production art that I started to feel a little better. Deuce coupes, crazy-looking demons, hot women, outlandish animals, and a main character that looks like the bastard lovechild of Glenn Danzig? How could you go wrong?

Later, I came across the song list and voice actors for the game and it gave me hope. Voice work by some serious metal talent like Lemmy Kilmister, Rob Halford, Lita Ford, and of course Ozzy Osbourne and songs by their respective bands as well as the as-of-late Cinderella story band Anvil and everyone’s favorite fictitious band Dethklok had me almost salivating for this game.

Needless to say I bought the game almost as soon as the guy at my neighborhood game store set it on the shelf. So I got it home, cracked it open, and started sinking my teeth into it. Half for my own selfish enjoyment and half for purposes of writing this review while the game was still fresh.

More review and less fangirl on page 2.
