Amazing Spider-Girl #28 has the weirdest lead-in ever, as May Parker faces off with the new Green Goblin – her father Peter Parker. Weird? Definitely – though not any weirder than the One More Day/Brand New Day of a couple months past. And unlike that debacle – Spider-Girl has long since proven worth reading.
Speaking of which, Amazing Spider-Man #583 has Peter Parker going on a date, but any developments in this issue are sure to be overshadowed by the back-up story, which sees Spidey teaming-up – and fist-bumping – with none other than Barack Obama. I am a bit confused though – I thought Stephen Colbert won the election in the M.U.
Things start getting interesting in Deadpool #6 when the Merc with a Mouth discovers the intelligence he cheated long and hard for were stolen by none other than Norman Osborn. Now, Osborn is a crazy guy. We know that. But how crazy? Well, instead of paying Deadpool off, he’s going to sick the Thunderbolts on him in the upcoming issues and do everything one shouldn’t do to provoke a mad mercernary with a healing factor.
There’s also a one-shot Nova: Origin of Richard Rider #1 hitting stands. You all know I’m a huge fan of Nova, but I’m a little more skeptical of this attempt to bring the mainstream up to speed for War of the Kings. The origin story includes a new framing by Nova and War of Kings scribe Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, but we already saw that during Annhilation Conquest. It’s probably great jumping-on point for readers new to Marvel’s premere intergalatic hero, but I don’t think it’s a must for vetern readers like myself.
To see what’s in-store for this side of the DC Universe, read on to page 2.
