This was a big week for nerdcore, a genre we mentioned last year. On November 11th a tour van carrying nerdcore artists MC Frontalot, MC Lars, and YTCracker along and the trailer containing all their equipment and merchandise hit a patch of black ice causing them to wreck. Everyone came away unharmed but the trailer broke away from the van and dumped equipment and merchandise all over the road.
YTCracker recorded a short video after the accident which can be seen here (language therein NSFW) and you can see a picture of the wreckage on the MC Lars website. This, of course, caused the scheduled show in Lincoln, NE to be cancelled much to the apologies of all three artists. Touring continued as scheduled the next day though.
MC Chris, who has had some serious problems with nerdcore and it’s contributors in the past, attempted to bury the hatchet on Friday. He posted a thread on Rhymetorrents.org, an unofficial hub for nerdcore artists and fans. Of course this was met with the expected angry replies, MC Chris fans showing registering to post nothing but adoration, and people claiming reservations about this being the same old “revolving door” apology Chris has done in the past. Whether it’s genuine this time, only time will tell.
Finally, any of you aspiring nerdcore rappers out there that want to get your tracks onto the next Rhyme Torrents compilation, the deadline is November 29th. Track submissions criteria are that the tracks must be previously unreleased, 24bit .wav or 320 kbits/s .mp3, quality should be as high as possible. So get those tracks cut and sent in.
