Sony’s Playstation 3 just lost another “exclusive”, as Square-Enix CEO Yoichi Wada confirmed that Final Fantasy XII would indeed land on the XBox 360. It’s unknown at this time, though, what the release date will be, and if it will be released at the same time on both platforms.
This is a very smart move for Square-Enix. I, like a lot of former Sony fanboys, moved on to Microsoft’s console after initially being put-off by the PS3 and it’s high price. Considering that the game’s production cost is likely that of a Hollywood blockbuster, releasing on both platforms is a sound economic move.
Microsoft must be ecstatic as well — Final Fantasy XIII may just be the title that helps them gain a significant foothold in the Japanese market, the one area where Microsoft is almost a non-factor.
Big thanks to X3F, where I first saw the announcement.

Fangirls and boys should check out the trailer.
In Japanese, of course, but, really, if you’re saying, “What does it say?!”, you’re not a true Final Fantasy fan anyway! ^_~
