    InnerGeek: #1 Fan
Posted by Shawn M. on Jun 22nd, 2008

Coming in to complete your weekend, it’s a brand new InnerGeek!  If you squint enough, you can probably read it in its thumbnail version, but I (and 9 out of 10 optometrists) recommend that you just click on it.

Sorry to hear about your tablet, man. 2008 really does look like it’s turning out to be the year all your stuff breaks. You should just lease everything you own, that way you don’t own it anymore and it can be replaced when if you break it.

This strip reminds me how much I hate bandwagon-jumpers. Like the Patriots this past season; suddenly, everyone and their half-brother started sporting Patriot silver and blue, just because they got caught up in the whole “unbeaten” hype. However, 95% of them probably couldn’t name more players on the team than Brady, Moss, and maybe Teddy Bruschi. (I probably butchered that spelling to hell, I know. Oddly enough, I can spell Bengal TJ Houshmanzadeh’s name without looking it up…) What would they know about Super Bowl XX (the 42-10 smackdown administered by the shufflin’ Bears), the AFL days, or even the guy who Brady replaced at QB (Drew Bledsoe) and all the drama with Parcells?

I actually was a Celtic fan, inasmuch as I followed basketball at all, during their great run in the ’80s with Bird, McHale, and Parrish (33-32-00, baby!), who dominated the parquet in the old Boston Garden a few years before most of these Johnny-come-latelies were even born (you know, the generation of “There were sports before ESPN?” incredulity). So this strip hits hilariously home for me.

Sorry about your tablet; if it helps at all, I think the strip came out looking just fine.
