It always felt like it was inevitable, but always felt like it would never happen. After the story wrapped up in Diablo 2, how could Blizzard make another game in this universe? But they surprised us with Starcraft 2, and they’re doing it again with the just-announced Diablo 3!
The teaser material looks fantastic, and true to the Diablo playstyle. The game still uses isometric perspective, random item drops, and the skill tree. Take a look, because it looks like everything a Diablo fan would want; it may seem like more of the same, but damnit - that’s how we like it!
The gameplay trailer shows the Barbarian going berserk on a variety of new baddies, which now come in monstrously large and seemingly unending swarms. The jumping attack used in Diablo 2 appears to be back, but with an explosive landing. He also seems to have a new fast sprint attack, along with an earthquake skill. The enemy AI looks like what you’d expect from a game like this, which means they run wildly towards destruction, but it’s classic Diablo.
Along with the teaser gameplay trailer, there’s an awsome cinematic and some info on the game, including some new character classes. If you’re a Diablo fan, chances are you’ll be impressed. I know I most certainly was.
