Take-Two Interactive reported that Grand Theft Auto IV broke two all-time entertainment records last week. FIrstly, it sold “approximately six million” units during the first week of availability, taking in more than $500 million globally. Secondly, its release day take was an amazing 3.6 million with $310 million across the world.
That’s not bad at all for a game that was only released on two consoles — I can only imagine how much more money RockStar could have made if they developed a Playstation 2 version. Or even the Wii.
Look for my review of GTAIV shortly — thankfully, I was able to get in a lot of playing time before my Xbox broke (not the Red Rings, but a separate issue that will nonetheless leave me without my favorite console for about a month).
