According to Reuters, Chinese authorities have lifted a block on the English version of the popular user-contributed Wikipedia. However, politically sensitive subjects like Tibet and Tiananmen Square are still bricked off.
Users from Shanghai and Beijing confirmed on Saturday that they had access to the English version of Wikipedia, but the Chinese-language version was still restricted. Searches on non-sensitive topics would lead Chinese users to the English version of the Wikipedia article while searches for Tibet and other such topics were met with notices that the browser was unable to connect to the Internet.
Who knows what the real motivations for lifting the restrictions were or how long the restrictions will be lifted. To the very few Chinese readers we do have at this site, here’s my suggestion to you. Read what you can while you can. It’s better to read potentially useless information and have it stuck in your head than miss you chance and never see it in the first place.

It’s, no doubt, related to this.
Like China really cares what the IOC thinks *now*…
