It’s official: Metal Gear Solid 4 will be released June 12th, 2008, but there’s more news if you’re not on the PS3 bandwagon yet. There will also be a MGS4 hardware bundle shipping alongside, including an 80G PS3, Dual Shock 3 controller, and MGS4 software for $499 US.
I’m still very much in the “I will never pay more than $300 for a console, EVER” camp, but for MGS fans and Blu-Ray fencesitters, this looks to be a nice package.

Wow, this is tempting. I was in the same mindset about paying those high console prices and swore I would never pay the $400 price tag of a 360, but a year later caved.
$500 is still really steep and I would be sold on it if it were $400, but with HD-DVD’s death and both the game and controller, I’m tempted. If I get that tax rebate check and don’t have any outstanding bills at the time I might consider this.
But dangit, thev system really needs to get some more good games to really win me over.

I’m right there with you. There are some things I need to buy/pay for before I can pick up a PS3 but I’ll probably cave and get one sooner or later.
