Brilliant and fully seconded. I hate having to spend upwards of $50/month just to follow one story arc. Why don’t I just mail Joey Q my $50 and he can send me an autographed punch in the crotch each month, cut the foreplay out entirely. This, dear friends, is why I wait for the trades to come out…which usually works pretty well unless you tend to follow the Ultimates 2 who put out a new trade every 40 years.

This is exactly why the anal continuity hounds probably belong more in fandom than behind the editor’s desk. It soon becomes absofrakkinglutely impossible to ever miss an issue and still make sense of what the hell’s supposed to be going on in ANY of the stories, they become so top-heavy with backstory and references to issues published between one week and thirty years ago.

Said it before, say it again: Marvel needs a Crisis-like event - hopefully without all the loopholes and do-overs DC keeps foisting on us, which is its own issue.
