Is Google Microsoft’s New Enemy #1?
Posted by Migo on Nov 13th, 2007

According to Erik Selberg, who apparently left Microsoft Live Search sometime ago, some of his colleagues who have given their two weeks notice in order to join up with Google have been escorted off campus immediately. Why? It seems that the fine folks at Microsoft don’t want any of their other code-monkeys to ask questions to the departing would-be Googlite and possibly jumping ship as well.

Those who have given their two weeks notice and left for other companies, such as Amazon.com, have not been shown the door immediately though. Instead, they were given their two weeks to wrap things up and say goodbye to friends and coworkers. Has Google really taken the place of Linux as the new threat to Microsoft?

On a side note, if you do have plans to leave Microsoft for Google you may want to say goodbye to your friends ahead of time. Don’t expect any cake or a going away party either, leaving for Google seems to be a sure-fire way to be bounced off campus before you can spit out the words “I quit”.
