The newest version of Apple’s Mac OS X, Leopard, hits store shelves tomorrow and for the price tag of between $129 - 199 through the Apple Store it still seems to be getting better reviews than Microsoft Vista did when it debuted and a lot of reviewers are suggesting Leopard over Vista for consumers looking to buy a new computer.
If the reviews are correct, this newest version of OS X isn’t as revolutionary as Apple has said but it is still a great improvement over the previous version. Judging by the the Apple website there are 300+ new features for the upcoming version as well, and it doesn’t seem to make all your old software incompatible by default.
Backwards compatibility is something the Linux developers have been utilizing for years and it’s something Microsoft should have thought about for Vista after complained about problems getting programs to work with XP when it first came out. Good going Apple, keep the backwards compatibility and still give us new features. That’s what the public likes, new stuff with the ability to keep your old stuff.
