In what’s likely little more than a double-fluke, it seems the planets have aligned for not one, but two unusual occurances on the Japanese sales charts for the week ending Sept 30. Not only did an Xbox 360 game break the top three in unit sales (Halo 3 sold 60,783 copies according to vgchartz.com), but it also turns out that the game was a first-person shooter, which hasn’t traditionally had very much influence in the Japanese market. I’m sure by the end of this week it’ll be back to RPGs and boob-touching sims at the top of the list, but it’s still a very interesting point of note in a country where the Xbox 360 has been little more than static on the radar.
