Take-Two’s third quarter 2007 fiscal report indicates that the Xbox 360 version of Bioshock has already surpassed shipments of one-and-a-half million copies. The late August release is not only the highest rated Xbox 360 game to date, but apparently is also one of the fastest-selling…of course, we all know that Halo 3 will utterly obliterate Bioshock’s sales (over 1 million copies of halo 3 have already been pre-ordered), but for an entirely new IP, it’s doing very well for itself. Hopefully the game’s success will be a clarion call for game developers and publishers to realize that yes, sometimes doing something a bit different than the norm can pay off…sometimes moreso than you’d ever expect.
