Beginning today, the 360 sees a price drop across all three models (in the US, at least): the 360 Pro drops to $350, the Elite to $450, and the Core to $280. It strikes me as odd that Microsoft didn’t drop the Core down to $250 which would have put it squarely in the same price range as the Wii, though considering how hard the Wii is to find these days, these Cores might still end up being an alternative buy for those tired of trying to hunt down Nintendo’s latest console. Microsoft’s timing couldn’t be better what with Madden only a week away, Bioshock a mere two weeks off, and of course, Halo 3 coming up in about a month and a half…what’ll remain to be seen is whether or not this lineup can help MS pull away from Nintendo again as they continue to close rank at a solid number two.
My guess is that by year’s end, MS and Nintendo will be neck-and-neck with both at about 15 million units sold worldwide; Sony I expect will probably pull in less than half of those numbers (6 million at best), as most of their system-selling exclusives (MGS4, and…MGS4) have been delayed to next year.

I’ve actually caught myself looking over the 360 a few times lately; it seems like it’s getting some decent games that actually aren’t just Halo clones, WWII shooters, or EA Sports stuff. (Being the big-handed sort, I even sort of appreciate the controller as something I can hold for extended periods without my hands cramping something fierce.)
The price drop makes it more attractive, but I think I’ll stick with coveting the Wii for now… though once I get enough money together, I may just end up getting both eventually.

I’d suggest getting the 360 first. There’s far more games on the horizon that are worth getting, not to mention several great games already available.
