According to Newarama, Mike Wieringo passed away over the weekend at the age of 44 of a sudden heart attack. Paramedics were unable to reach him in time.
Those who knew Wieringo’s work were familiar with his unique blend of cartoon and realism in his style, which stood out from a world of McFarlane clones. Some of Ringo’s most famous work came from his gig on Fantastic Four with writer Mark Waid; there would be a huge outcry when the creative duo were axed from the book after a very successful run. Ringo also kept a daily sketchblog, which has crashed due to the sudden incredible rush of traffic.
Mike Wieringo was widely regarded as one of the nicest guys in comics - always humble, kind, and approachable. He will be greatly missed not only for his incredible art, but as a truly good person.
