Horribleville isn’t the only bit of mad genius KC Green has unleased on the internet. Among KC’s hundreds of comics, HV ranks as his best, but Droop is definetely a close second.
A collection of random gags, many featuring an animated pickle, Droop is about nothing, but covers everything, especially now. KC is using the summer to make strips based on suggestions from his audience. Among them is a random Rachel Ray comic; the joke being that after so many panels, KC reveals he has no idea who she is.
The art is KC Green. There’s really no way to critique or describe it. It looks like MAD Magazine threw up, yet it’s so original, personal, and endearing that you’ll fall in love with every scratchy line. This one updates on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule, and now every strip is in full glorious color. The flat colors work well with the linework, so the whole package is great. With nearly 700 comics to read, you’ll be there a while, but damn, is it worth it. This also showcases how KC grew as an artist and developed his skills, from crude, simple sketches to the very essence of the free-form comic.
Oh, and never, ever take Neil Diamond’s turtle. You’ve been warned.
