After 9 long years, the clash between the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg once again comes to life.
On Saturday May 19th at the 2007 Blizzard Worldwide Invitational event in Seoul, South Korea, Blizzard officially announced the sequel to its award-winning RTS, StarCraft, is in development. The thousands of attendees, who were packed into the Olympic Gymnastics Arena to witness the presentation, were treated with a StarCraft II cinematic trailer as well as a gameplay demonstration by the development team.
Development is being undertaken simultaneously for Windows and Mac platforms and will feature new units, gameplay mechanics, and a custom 3-D engine, as well as a single-player campaign and online play through Blizzards Battle.net®. If that wasn’t enough for the avid StarCraft fan, Blizzard will be including a full-featured map editor so the user can have some of the same tools at their disposal that the design crew utilizes.
