The biggest thing coming out tomorrow is the 52nd issue of DC’s first weekly comic 52. Hopefully all the questions will be answered, chief among them, what is 52, the cryptic number seen in the backdrop of the controversial comic.
Green Lantern #19Â opens with the return of one of Hal’s most persistent adversaries, the Star Sapphire, who has just possessed one of Hal’s old flames. Last issue didn’t disappoint, but the action is often cut short by the back-up story, “Tales of the Sinestro Corps”, which prepares readers for Sinestro’s big return this summer.
Joss Whedon’s ground-breaking Astonishing X-Men continues with the third part of ”Unstoppable” in #21 this week, which sees one of the X-Men facing a prophecy they will be responsible for the destruction of Breakworld.
Joss Whedon is also continuing Marvel break-out hit Runaways, which now finds the titular group of superpowered kids running against the Punisher. This should be interesting, considering Punisher’s post-Civil War. Will he be taking on role as Captain America’s heir-apparant, and what does this mean for the Runaways?
Finally, the Sensational Spider-Man Annual #1 this week has Mary Jane confronted with a “long-lost suitor” who offers her an opportunity to leave her life on the run with Spider-Man. This is a major event, as the Marvel brass has frequently offered plans to alter the relationship between Spidey and MJ, but the later’s fan base has often revoked such decisions. It will be interesting to see what the latest development is in one of comicdom’s longest soap operas.
Stephen King’s The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born also sees its fourth issue hitting the stands, following the early years of Stephen King’s notable protagonist Roland as written by Peter David and Robin Furth, with art by Jae Lee and Richard Isanove.
Incredible Hulk #106 kicks off “Warbound”, a story which leads right into World War Hulk, as the previews find Hulk’s mysterious fan Amadeus Cho confronting She-Hulk and Doc Samson, as the road stretches to the upcoming summer crossover.
This week also sees yet another issue in the brain-munching comic no one saw coming - Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness. The issue finds Ash in a world where most of the Marvel heroes have become flesh-eating zombies, and the book which started it all for Ash - the Necronomicon - might be the world’s last hope.
And finally, Season Eight of Buffy the Vampire Slayer continues with the third issue this week. The cover ushers the return of Willow in the comics, who comes just in time to save Buffy and her Slayers-in-Training. Unforunately, Buffy is held in a fairly tale slumber until she receives a kiss from her one true love. In a series Joss Whedon has stated will use Angel and Spike only when necessary, I’m interested to see what option he takes.
That concludes the weekly laundry list of comics. As one can see from the above list, there’s plenty to choose from.

I thought Spike was dead…? End of season 7, even the written Book version had Spike staying behind with the necklace on, while Hell Mouth went ka-boom. Unless I missed something on Angel, he should be dead right? o.O;

You missed something on Angel.
Early season five, the necklace - which came from Wolfram and Hart - was mailed back to Angel, who was then running the corporation. The necklace contained the ghost of Spike, who was later completely resurrected later in the season.

Ah okay, I *did* miss something then. Seeing as for most of the seasons run of Angel I had already been living at home and depended souly on whatever my mom taped, or what friends told me about. Thanks for the heads up, and yeah you’re right. Who would be her true love?
For all we know, it could even be shock of shocks Xander. Don’t take that seriously I’m just looking at the humor side of things. Considering he was all for Buffy for a majority of the seasons, that Willo went for girls, and Anya got jelouse. When you look at it, he’s just the guy who saw it all, and was “there”. Heh, that would be weird if it turned out that way. Buffy I saw was pretty fickle. Angel, Riley, whoever else she had the hots for, and Spike.
Thanks for the heads up regardless.
