You remember Steve Job’s open letter about DRM?
Well, imagine my surprise when Macrovision, a company that’s made all it’s money preventing consumers from making copies of tapes they’ve legally aquired, has said it’s not a problem with DRM at all! In fact, we need DRM or no one would digitally distribute music or anything else, for that matter!
Now, you could read their letter, but it’s all a bunch of BS that normal people probably wouldn’t understand, so John Gruber has translated it for us into normal people language.

Macrovision supporting DRM is like ExxonMobil supporting exploratory drilling in Alaska. It’s like Balco supporting the don’t-ask-don’t-tell approach to steroid use in baseball. It’s like WotC supporting the epidemic-level spread of d20. It’s like… well, you get the idea.
And, of course, the only ones who have a problem with DRM are the pirates. (The scary part is, they actually believe that.)

I, for one, say that the d20 system should go back to OGL. Then again, I’d prefer most things be under an open license. Holy crap…I’ve become a digital hippy.
