Do you like free stuff? Are you a cheap SOB that hates paying for things? Then I’ve got a website for you! At Giveaway of the Day, every day, for 24 hours only, a new commercial software title is offered for download — for free! Don’t expect to find a free copy of Vista to download, though — the daily title is from smaller developers looking to get their product out and noticed. Still, there have been some nifty programs featured recently, so it’s worth keeping an eye on.

There’s one other kinda big caveat emptor with this site that I just discovered:
If you grab anything from them, don’t expect to be able to back up the setup file and reinstall it again should you, say, have to reformat and reinstall. The first thing the setup file does is connect to giveawayoftheday.com to see if it’s still “active,” meaning if it’s still within the 24-hour giveaway period. If it’s expired, it won’t let you install the program. It only works within that 24-hour window, and while it can be used once time expires, if you uninstall or otherwise lose the program later on, you’re pretty much SOL.
Just a heads-up, as I feel this is one of those Things You Should Know. There’s always a string attached, and this is the one for that site…
