Microsoft says it expects businesses to deploy Windows Vista twice as fast as they deployed XP.
Now, others are suggesting that this is not the case, since businesses don’t like to deploy new OSes unless they have to. But let’s say Microsoft is right on with this, why would they want to upgrade?
And the answer to that, of course, is support.
Take a look at the security bulletins for last month. There are 6 critical updates to the OS, one of which was such a bad problem they had to release it out of cycle, and at least one had to be re-released twice!
They called it the same thing, however, so you wouldn’t otherwise notice this…
In any case, this is what happens every month, but two years after Vista ships, it won’t happen anymore. Now, wouldn’t that scare the bejusus out of you if you were a system admin?
So, it seems, to me, as though Microsoft saying businesses are going to adapt Vista faster than XP is like Tony Soprano saying that so-and-so is going to have an “accident”.
