And after this past weekend when I pre-ordered! Damn my timing!
On Monday, October 3rd, tales of the game appearing on torrent sites began to spring up, with reports that it was completely playable (through use of modified PS2’s capable of playing homemade discs, of course). Since then, a multitude of torrent sites have picked up the game.
Square Enix has already managed to shut down the originating torrent, but many are still active. It remains to be seen when and if this problem will be taken care of.
Considering that the vasy majority of PS2 owners are either incapable or unaware of modding their hardware, this leak shouldn’t hurt the sales of FFXII too much. Besides, if you obtain the game illegally, you miss out on the chance of getting the super-hot collector’s edition!
