Sony, Sony, Sony… I’m pulling for you, I really am. Despite being a bit too overpriced for a gaming machine, I want the PS3 to succeed. Unfortunately, though, Sony’s got some bad news for its Japanese fans. Instead of 100,000 units shipping on launch day in the Land of the Rising Sun, component shortages have cut that number to 80,000. With many Japanese stores not bothering with pre-orders, expect some crazy lines and hilarious hijinks on launch day. Should be fun!
On the flip side, there’s Nintendo. According to one of their head honchos, the Wii will be plentiful, with every pre-order being filled as well as having enough for walk-up customers as well. Good for you, Nintendo. You’ve done everything right with your console launch. Next up for this wonderful company? Working on curing every known disease and developing automobiles that are powered by peoples’ love of puppies.
