Nintendo is planning on having 1,000,000 Wiis available for its North American launch. By contrast, the Playstation 3 will only ship 400,000 in North America upon its release.
With as much hype as the Wii is getting, as well as the very strong launch line-up, one million units are sure to fly off the shelves as soon as they’re stocked. If Nintendo is smart — and up to this point, they’ve looked like geniuses — they’ll have enough Wiis manufactured for subsequent shipments, as it looks like this crazy console is going to be the hit of the holiday season.
