Nintendo released their launch dates, cost, and various other Wii-specific information today. The units will run you $250USD and will be hitting shelves on November 19th in the US and December 2nd in Japan.
The Wii will not be without its drawbacks, however. Like the fact that it will not be supporting DVD playback. While this doesn’t matter to many people, if you were planning on using it as a DVD player as well as a gaming console, think again. Another down side is the fact that it will be shipping with only one controller and an extra controller will run you about $60.
They also released a list of third party games that will be launching along side the Wii until March 31, 2007. Those games are…
- Activision
- Call of Duty 3
- Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
- Rapala Tournament Fishing
- Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam

I hate to bring this up, but some comments made yesterday have officially debunked the reports that Wii will be region-free.

Taken care of, thanks. I hadn’t had a chance to run through my news feeds yet today.
