    War Driving Anyone?
Posted by Migo on Aug 10th, 2006

Corsair Memory.com just put out a nifty article on how to put a computer in your car. My initial thought was “cool, now you can use Google Maps whenever you get lost en route”. Of course, my second thought was, now I can found out who has unprotected wireless in my neighborhood.

Not that I condone war-driving, nor do I do it myself, but the idea is fun. I don’t need to war-drive, I’ve got protected wireless in my home, but it’s still nice to think that you could teach someone a lesson (non-maliciously of course) by inserting a text file or something onto their computer saying “WEP is your friend, protect yourself”. I don’t know, maybe that’s just me.

In any case, I think putting a computer in your car is a great idea. It could have its downside as well, like causing wrecks while trying to check email…or fixing a paper jam in the printer while going down the freeway. Aside from that though, there are plenty of benefits to having a computer in your vehicle, just remember to use it responsibly and only for good. Kind of like the Force.
