Nope, playing DVDs is definitely not working. Xine tells me it’s illegal (or maybe not, the error message looked like Engrish), Totem chokes, VLC won’t even try and Ogle laughs at me. No helpful errors like, “I need this package” or “you’re missing this”. So I’m going to grab my knowledgeable friends, Jerry included, by the necks tomorrow and see if we can’t get to the bottom of this.
Things I learned today:
* If I choose to go to Kubuntu, it’ll be a snap. Kubuntu is blue. I like blue.
* Networking with the two other WinXP PCs in my house might still be possible. This was brought up yesterday, but reinforced today.
* My offline friends don’t want to hear about it.
Today’s events were limited because I was out of the house today. So tomorrow, Day Three, will continue the DVD adventure, and I will probably begin mucking about with text editors and office programs.
