Walking through the book store last night I found a copy of the Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks just sitting on the shelf. Being the giant zombie fanatic that I am, I picked it up and bought it. This is one of the books that reminds me of college, mainly because all my friends in college were huge zombie fans as well. One friend had given so much thought to zombies he was, and still is, basing his opinions on the house he buys on how defendable it is from a zombie invasion.

At any rate, the book got me to thinking about my friends from college, which in reminded me of drinking…as we were prone to do, which in turn reminded me of drinking while playing “Zombies!!!”, a card game by Twilight Creations.

This is a fun little board game. You, and the people you are playing with, find yourselves stuck in the city during the zombie invasion. Your objective is to get to the helicopter and thus to safety. Sounds easy enough, right? Wrong! To get to the helipad you’ll find yourself screwing everyone else over any way you can to be first, and they’ll be doing to the same to you.

There four expansion packs for this game, that I am aware of, all based on different zombie movie stereotypes. From the government-experiment zombies to George Romero’s vision of zombies in the mall, to an expansion based on the Evil Dead movies, and even a zombies in college expansion. I can’t speak for all of these as I’ve only played three of them, but the ones I’ve played had extra blank cards at each end of the deck (presumably to prevent the cards from being mangled in the box).

A great addition to the game is to make your own cards from these blanks. Such as the “Oh Crap!” card, “your character has to use the bathroom…lose a turn”, other creations are only limited by your imagination. So if you find yourself with a friend on a dark and stormy night…or drunk with a kitchen full of friends, you’ll be glad you had this game to waste your evening playing.

   Dude, are you possibly referring to MY heterolifemate, whose bible is the Zombie Survival Guide? We have full length targets of drawn zombies in the yard with hard earned head holes of many a practice round from the Glock.

   Now new neighbors add chaos to the zombie world obsession, the recently from Maine man is back with a vengeance and I KNOW there will be many nights of Twilight Creation Zombies if they ever get their s**t together.
