    In the Clear

SecurityMonkey at IT Toolbox writes about how many websites are very lax on security, including some rather big sites, such as Juno and Net Zero.

Okay, obviously making a website secure is a little more work. Now, the easy way is to simply use SSL, which is easy, but takes some money. The next best way is to use a little JavaScript — it really doesn’t take much to create a sign-in that takes a token from the server and incorporates it into the password along with a hash.

But, gosh, that would require paying attention to the user’s data, and, well, why spend money doing that? Who’s with me?
